Important Message

I just found out that someone copying some of my posts on his blog. It's means that he copying exactly the same posts with the same text and pictures only with new links. After copying my posts he seems to able to delete my Zippy links!! And maybe he do also with other blogs/websites!

Now I'm forced to delete the rest of the links of my blog to stop this kind of "plagiarism" because I don't wanna be a kind of "slave" for this kind of blogs!

I don't know what the future will brings, but I'm not in the mood to continue this blog in this way.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the future?

It's sad but true and this is reality!

  1. Try Mega. Free accounts get 50gb. https://mega.nz - Just don't have your zip file name the same as the artist/record name. https://workupload.com - also works well.

  2. Hi,
First of All Thanks a lot for all you published on your site and on Twillight Zone.
Technically I don't uderstand what your are saying :
    1) In fact anybody can copy exactly any web page because the related html code of the page is accessible directly from the published page. So it is like that and independent of your site and from anybody. No technical protection exists against that.
    2) To delete your Zippyshare link, you must need to have the parameters of your Zippyshare account (username and password) that are not presents on your web site. So no fear with that. The zippyshare links and your web site are two different and independent subjects.
    Thats my two pences
Regards and Thank again for your web publications

  3. It must be that somebody else has your zippyshare password.
How else can somebody delete your zippyshare links without knowing your password ?

You should upload a few albums to zippyshare, using a new password, and see if the links are deleted.

    Good luck.

  4. Also, I just tried a number of zippyshare links on this site.
    Not all links are deleted.
"Famous Recording Artists Sing Hava Nagila" is still there.

So change your password and see what happens.

  6. Hey TheSingleGuy45, that is merde. At first thanks for this great blog. Is it a way to make it private? Don't want to to lose your blog. Hope you will find a way ...

  7. Also, instead of you deleting all of your zippyshare links, you should make your blog private. That way nobody else can see your log and the "thief" can't steal your links. Then you would have time to consider your options for dealing with the thief.

  12. I received some messages in my mailbox about dead links, so I checked this links and found out that those links belongs to the posts which was copied to the other blog. It's strange because I've a Zippy account with username and password.

It's like a taxi-cab competition: You can compete with prices or services, but not by blowing up the cabs. That's unfair competition!

Now I call this also an unfair competition: to delete my Zippy links of the posts which he copied to his blog in the hope that my visiters goes to his blog!!

  13. It is sad that others take your effort and slightly repackage as if their own. It has happened before and the other guy is killing your enthusiasm to blog and share. I'm sorry because this is a great blog. Maybe take a break - and see what the other guy does. Stay strong and thanks for all the music you have been sharing.

  14. Great Blog you have , seems like everytime someone has a blog like this someone likes to bring them down . I hope that if you enjoy doing this, someone doesn't make you quit. Maybe you could go private, also maybe when the other person starting using your zippy links, those links got reported. So that's what they were taking down, not that they have your password.

    ReplyDelete
  15. But how can the thief delete your zippy links without knowing your password ?

  16. This is a great pity. So "This Is The Place Where The Music Never Dies" was but a temporary place. I am disappointed, but thanks for all your work thus far. I hope you may see your way clear to continuing somehow.

  17. Wow,so sorry to hear the bad news but understandable. A few years ago I too had a blog that I discontinued because someone kept having my posts taken down or removed from Zippyshare. Just because he could.

  18. This sucks big time. As someone already pointed out this is what closed Uncle Gil's site. I also agree, that you should probably go private if you don't want someone to copy your work. As far as deleting the zippy files, are you sure you were logged in when you uploaded them? If you weren't logged in, they can be deleted without your account and password.

Thank you for all your shares, both here and on TZ.

  19. I have really enjoyed your blog and I do hope that you will continue.

  20. Couple of things come to mind.
If they copy your dl and post it elsewhere as theirs, then they report you to zippy and zippy deletes your link, they don't need your pw.
This is "file sharing" it was never yours to begin with. We all appreciate your efforts to spread the music around to people that could or would not pay for it.
Uncle Gil quit because people were profiting from selling cd's of his dl's and using his home made covers.
I have followed you from your start and it would be sad to see you stop. If you go private I hope I can join.

  25. Well, I'm still upset because of what happened to Uncle Gil, and I'm sorry to find that you're facing similar problems. Even so, some of the observations in this thread have proven illuminating. Based on those insights, it does seem, on balance, that going private might be the best option.

Hi Single Guy, its a pity when people take stuff from one site and post it on another but I use quite a lot of sites and frankly it goes on all the time. There are times that I have seen a particular album appear 4 or 5 times on different sites within a couple of weeks of each other. I've seen torrents repackaged and distributed through ordinary blogs as well and in a way it is always bound to happen. This is file sharing after all. Are you certain they are your copies?

As for the deletion of the files that seems a little more sinister. Are you sure its not just coincidence that because some of the albums have been recycled that you have noticed them over others? As long as you have a decent account name and password (unrelated to your persona here) then its unlikely that you will have been hacked so unless they had raised a complaint as well I can't see how someone could get them deleted.

Anyway, I consider your site one of the go to sites right now not least because you manage to find some fascinating and rather unique stuff which does not appear on many other blogs. So please do keep up the Sterling work your contributions would be missed.

  29. Sorry to hear of your problem. A few people can ruin things. Thanks for all the great posts.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sorry to hear of your problems. Some people just want to screw things for everybody else. Why.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Very sorry to see that happen to another person trying to spread the music. I only found it this week and was looking to see it continue in the future... but there are always people that want to do the wrong time and ruin every ones good times, but thanks for the good music while it lasted. And may you continue to enjoy your music.

    ReplyDelete
  32. First of all, this is despicable.
Second of all, have you tried contacting this person? It may sound naive, but there are many nice fellows out there who just don't feel what they do is wrong because they don't know better. Maybe if you talked to them you'd help them see the light. You never know. This could lead to a frienship. OK, this DOES sound naive. But, again, you never know.
Third of all, what you do here is amazing. The work and the effort you put in this speak volumes for your love for music. You are a gifted person, a gifted listenet, a gifted collector. Why put an end to all that just because some person doesn't know better? There are many thieves out there, always were, always will be. By closing down this blog you'll hurt yourself more than this other person. I know that for sure, being a collector of over 80,000 records. And you'll hurt a lot of people who love your blog and would love to see and hear more. Finally, you'll hurt music itself, because the kind of records you upload here are the kind of records you can't easily find, most are out of print, and, in a way, you keep music and tradition alive too. Please don't cave in because some unimportant person slipped his hand in the candy jar. Kids do that. Grown ups keep on.
In any case, thanks for everything. Like I said, you gave us a lot and I think you'll keep giving us. Because you are that kind of person and your love for music will prevail. Kudos!

  37. Part 01:
I concur, though I've never done nor had it done to me, but over the years when a link dies without a reason, someone's reported it (maybe simpy out of spite or they're competing with another site) so it will be killed, without you being made aware by the fileserver. Young'uns can also through getting into the 'scene' get caught up in a ridiculous competition of being the top uploader, like that matters lol, to keep on the good side of the releasers.

But with your blog, none of that should be relevant!

A good while ago, when filesharing was crazy via fileservers, some scene group release would be all over the place very quickly, with some not nice people adding virus's etc compared to most normal uploaders just spreading the release, so you learned to trust a particular site along with a particular uploader etc.

    Again, not relevant.

Then the fileserver biz exploded and you simply couldn't afford to cover all the pro accts, making your online time very focused.
A lot of those sites died through too many with the exact same offerrings, as did many of the fileserver people because BT's became more popular and to many folks, a fairer way to share.

    But that's not relevant either.

So what has this individual got to gain by grabbing your stuff, reposting as though it is theirs and getting Zippy to delete your links? Did they, for example, make a post that was negative and wasn't approved, so this is just some sick way to get back at you? If it's not personal, and you're totally unaware of any transgression they feel you made against them, then it's got to be someone (like a teenager) that knows no better after someone else (who's sick of course) taught them to make a name for themself in this way, from someone else's labours.

I can only think of these 2 possible reasons (vendetta or an ignoramus).

There're all kinds on the internet these days, that the internet has created by allowing them to not have to show respect, or have good manners, or be considerate etc. However, with the exception of this *%#&(( (fill in whatever name you'd prefer to call them lol), you've quickly built up a core of respectful, polite, good mannered and considerate followers, and I being one of them will gladly continue to support and appreciate your efforts, whether that means going private and entry is through pure invitation only, or whatever you decide.

I just hope you don't decide to stop, but I can fully understand your reasons should you choose to do so. To offer the level of quality not only of the music, but the file naming, the artwork, the rareity, the posting, the site maintenance, the detailed postings and not forgetting the time to upload on a regular basis and so on, should not be repaid as this individual is doing.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Part 02:

Finally, choosing an alternative file server that works as good and as fast for free as Zippy does (that allows apps like IDM), I don't think there is one (except perhaps Mediafire - you'd need to run some tests). MU has a limit on a free acct so to store all you upload would require you to pay, which isn't fair (and polices the files uploaded which means either having to reupload deleted links by another name etc or getting yourself/acct banned thanks to another ignoramus as this one).

Of the fileservers around today, none of the free options are any good, especially for large rar files (the connections often fail making you have to wait maybe 24 hours to try again), and having tried a few Pro accts, there's a number of them that are actually terrible (as in you never hit anywhere close to their advertised speeds). But that can be based upon your location, and followers of the blog will pay for an acct that you don't benefit from. For many then, this is not a viable option.

Going private by invite only would mean you would have follower’s emails, and one service I find very useful is wetransfer, that allows when you upload to add email addresses to the upload and every folower will receive a download link email, if they want that album. The negative is it the link automatically dies after 7 days.

So whatever you do decide, please make sure to let us all know, and thanks for everything you've given us up to now :)

Sorry your having so much trouble

Ok i don't see how anybody can delete your files from Zippyshare with out your password, you do know that they are deleted after one month on zippyshare by the company.
If there is a site doing this name and shame said site, and maybe, others can do something about this site then!!

  59. If you are not going to help keep the music alive you should probably change the name. This was a quality blog but it has no meaning if it dies. It is odd but I am noticing a pattern that these blogs abusing the content has been a more efficient way of shutting blogs down than all the anti-piracy measures put together. Curate a blog for your own pleasure, don't stop because some clown is pretending to make a buck out your creative efforts with music that you have no legal right to in the first place.
